Detroit-Style Pizza Sauce

A variation on Chicago Deep Dish Pizza, this Detroit-Style Pizza features a second sauce layer on top of the pie. The top crust is topped with warm sauce and sprinkled with grated Parmigiano Reggiano before serving.

Makes 13 1⁄2 cups of sauce.



  1. Add all ingredients into a stainless steel bowl and stir until fully mixed.
  2. After the pizza is baked and taken out of the pan, sauce is placed on the pie in dollops or racing stripes down the length of the pizza.
  3. Enjoy!
