Long Island Grandma Pizza Sauce
Long Island Grandma pie is a bit thinner than traditional Sicilian. The dough is formed on top of an oiled sheet pan. Mozzarella cheese is placed on top, then toppings. The sauce is added in dollops before the pie is baked.
Makes 9¼ cups of sauce.
Ingredients:
- 1 can Alta Cucina® “Naturale” Style Plum Tomatoes, drained
- ½ cup Corto® Truly® 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 8 cloves of garlic, minced fine
- 8 anchovy filets, in oil, drained and minced fine
- 20 basil leaves chopped fine
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Grind the Alta Cucina® Plum Tomatoes in a hand mill.
- In a large stainless bowl add Corto® Truly® 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil, garlic, anchovies, basil, and the coarsely ground tomatoes.
- Add salt and pepper to taste
